“Your mother wouldn’t have wanted this for you.”

“Wouldn’t have wanted what? For me to be happy, Dad?” 

“My decision is final.”

not gonna lie, i have a huge guilty pleasure for this kind of thing. Because I like to hurt myself.

Stiles wouldn’t take his dad seriously and his dad would catch him again with Derek and the Sheriff would get that quiet angry look on his face and would put handcuffs on Derek, and Derek would let him, and drag him downstairs and into the squad car he just drove home from the station.

Stiles would be protesting in disbelief at first, following right after his father,who doesn’t say a word, and Stiles falls quickly to almost begging by the time Derek’s shut into the back of the squad car. 

The Sheriff rounds on his son, an angry and stern look on his face with a finger raised to emphasis the scolding and yelling Stiles was about to get and Stiles sees the look and breaks. He promises, promises before his dad can start yelling that he won’t see Derek again, that if he’s ever around him he won’t be alone with him.

And Stiles holds up to his words, he and Derek don’t break up, at least they don’t break up for them, for everyone else they aren’t together anymore. Whenever Stiles has to be around Derek he’s always got at least Scott with him, and luckily its a quiet peaceful time in Beacon Hills.

They wait nine months, nine months until Stiles is eighteen and a legal adult. Its not easy but they manage. On Stiles’ eighteenth birthday Stiles brings Derek home for dinner that night, he doesn’t tell his dad, but where he might have been snarky once he’s completely serious and introduces his father to Derek properly this time, and Derek to his father. 

They sit down for dinner and Derek goes home and as Stiles and his father are cleaning up dinner his dad stops and looks at his son, mouth open to ask something, or say something, but he looks like he can’t quite come up with the words he wants, Stiles smiles and simply says “I told you I loved him. I don’t date for fun, to just date. Its not something that works. I don’t expect you to like him now, or even in the near future, but I’m pretty positive he’s it for me, and I hope you’ll get along with him someday.” 

For added feelings maybe the Sheriff says that he was wrong about what his mother would have wanted, that she would have wanted Stiles to be happy and Derek obviously makes Stiles very happy and she would have supported them.

They both apologize at the same time, Stiles for not introducing Derek to his dad properly, his dad for over reacting and making them wait that long to be together, they’d both laugh and hug it out like Stilinski men do best and the Sheriff shoos Stiles out of the house, telling him he can handle cleaning up dinner and he should spend the night with his boyfriend tonight.

Just this once though, because Stiles has school in the morning.

They’ll discuss weekends later.
